Senior Living Foundation
of the American Foreign Service

The Senior Living Foundation is a private, non-profit, 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization established to assist retired members of the American Foreign Service who are physically or mentally unable to cope with old age. The Foundation provides information about and assistance in obtaining community, State, Federal and private resources. The Foundation offers senior citizens guidance through the often difficult process of gaining access to available resources.

Our primary goal is to provide this assistance and, when more help is needed, to provide some financial support which improves the lives of these deserving individuals. While this support often takes the form of small grants to cover the cost of medical transportation or hearing aids, a growing number of colleagues need more extensive support such as Home Health Care, medication and basic living expenses. The Senior Living Foundation provides temporary and one-time assistance grants as they are needed, in addition to accepting each case for a lifetime commitment. The Foundation achieves its goals via tax-deductible support from corporate and individual donors.

Some examples of the aid that the Foundation offers include:

  • Hearing aids
  • Home health care
  • Transportation to medical appointments
  • Groceries
  • Prescription drug costs
  • Durable medical equipment (e.g., wheelchairs)
  • Basic living expenses
  • Senior living facilities
